Here is an excellent opportunity to gain or formalise your project management skills by taking a PRINCE2 Weekend Sheffield course. The course typically spans two consecutive weekends. PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured method for effective project management. It is a de facto standard used extensively in the UK and internationally. PRINCE2 offers best-practice guidance on project management. The PRINCE2 method is flexible and adaptable for any type and size of project and offers an excellent foundation for any member of staff.
This is an examination-based PRINCE2 instructor led training course. Successful candidates will attain certification at PRINCE2 Foundation and for those attending both weekends, Practitioner level also. Candidates will be provided with pre-study materials which need to be completed before the course. Some evening study, both on the training days and in the intervening days will be required during the course to assist in preparation of the exam(s).
The PRINCE2 2017 certification scheme is owned by AXELOS (Website): PRINCE2 2017 Project Management Certifications
The training equips candidates with a detailed knowledge of the PRINCE2 methodology, working through each stage of pre-project preparation and the project lifecycle.
Here are some key features of our PRINCE2 Weekend Sheffield Course to compare and contrast with other providers:
There are two main levels of exam: Foundation and Practitioner.
For Foundation level, the syllabus is primarily covered over the first two days of the PRINCE2 Weekend Sheffield event with some evening work required. The exam is taken either during the second weekend or online.
The PRINCE2 2017 Foundation Certification scheme is owned by AXELOS (Website): PRINCE2 2017 Foundation Certification
For Practitioner, the course is typically two days in duration and the syllabus is covered over a weekend. The Foundation certification is a prerequisite. For someone requiring both exams they'll typically attend consecutive weekends with the Foundation and Practitioner exams taken on the second weekend.
The PRINCE2 2017 Practitioner Certification scheme is owned by AXELOS (Website): PRINCE2 2017 Practitioner Certification
The Re-registration exam was a shorter version of the Practitioner exam, applicable to PRINCE2 2009 Practitioner holders only. The PRINCE Re-registration ceased to be available 31st December 2017. The main process to maintain your PRINCE2 Practitioner is to sit the 2017 version of the Practitioner exam. We'll help you assess how much study will be required. You may just need a few hours of study if you're using the PRINCE2 method daily. Typically a few hours study and attending the Practitioner course will be sufficient. For someone who has not used the method for some time, the full course may be necessary.
The PRINCE2 Weekend Sheffield course is for anyone involved, or planning to be involved, at any level within a project environment. This includes current and aspiring project managers or professionals who manage projects.
Learners can attend both or either weekend's training depending upon their goals of attaining Foundation, Practitioner or both levels.
The weekend format is popular with professionals and career changers who cannot easily take time out to study during the working week.
A further relevant audience includes those involved in the design, development and delivery of projects and includes roles such as:
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:
There are no prerequisites for the Foundation Course other than English at 'Business Level'.
For Practitioner you'll need one of:
We provide all the required materials for your course and these typically include:
The two day duration PRINCE2 Re-registration course is described at:
The full combined Foundation and Practitioner course spans two weekends and requires some evening work. The first weekend's focus is on the Foundation level and the last weekend on the Practitioner level.
NB the Foundation and Practitioner events are self-standing and a learner can attend either.
The course is a combination of input and practical sessions, delivered by a PeopleCert approved trainer with practical experience of project management. A pre-event preparation pack including reading and specially written software will be sent to everyone attending this event. The course is built around the PRINCE2 2017 syllabus and features an interesting case study and relevant examples to illustrate the PRINCE2 method and help candidates understand its concepts.
On the first Saturday there's an overview of PRINCE2 including a review of the pre-reading material which includes the Principles, Themes and Processes of PRINCE2.
The course then continues in a series of highly interactive sessions which include the first four of the themes.
The first Sunday begins with a review of the previous day's learning. The course then continues with the remaining themes: Risk, Change and Progress. Foundation level test questions are provided for assessment and feedback is provided. The PRINCE2 Processes are presented and discussed at Foundation Level.
The initial activity of the second Saturday is to sit the Foundation Examination. The training then progresses through the PRINCE2 Project Journey and covers the Principles, Themes, Management Products and Processes at Practitioner Level.
NB Multiple project context examples are discussed.
Practitioner level study continues followed by the candidates sitting the Practitioner Examination.
